If you are applying as a "de-facto" you should generally have been in the relationship for at least 12 months at the date of application for the visa. Fiancé(e) Visa applicants must show that they have met and know their Australian fiancé(e) personally and have a genuine intention to live together as spouses. The child must generally be under 18 (or under 25 if in full-time education). Note: that a child can only be granted a permanent Child visa on the basis of a step relationship in circumstances where the child's natural or adopted parent is no longer a spouse of the step parent and that step parent has been granted legal responsibility for the child by a court.
