Can you apply?
- You must be old enough to be granted an Australian age pension.
Note: Men must be at least 65 years old. The qualifying age for women is being raised to 65 over a number of years
- You must be single. This means that you must either have always been single or, if you were married, you are no longer married (i.e. you are currently divorced, separated or widowed).
- You must have been dependent on your Australian relative† for a reasonable period of time. (A reasonable period is usually taken to be 3 years). You must also continue to be dependant on your Australian relative.
†Relative Definition
Relative includes child, parent, brother, sister, grand-parent, grand-child,
aunt, uncle, niece or newphew (or step relative of the same degree).
